Design Challenge: Cement Dining Table

I've already mentioned my love for cement interiors so it should come as no surprise that I was transfixed by the idea of a concrete dining table. And since I like to keep my design skills on their toes, I gave myself the challenge of designing a space around it.

Since the table itself is rather bulky and masculine, I balanced out the look with some more minimal and feminine pieces. I always love using a signature piece of art to define a dining room and the "retro-tropical" colors in the painting really caught my eye and screamed "My place in life is above a cement dining table!". I heard you loud and clear, painting.

Now I'm just on the hunt to find the perfect Malibu beach house to execute on this vision. Donations are gladly accepted.

Set in Concrete

I'm about to show you some pictures of concrete. Did I lose you? Nope? Still with me? Good because I promise this won't be boring in the least. Concrete happens to be one of my favorite interior looks of late. Who knew such a chic look could be achieved with one of the most fundamental construction elements? It's just so perfectly imperfect. Have a gander for yourself:

I was so excited to see this jaw-dropping home tour recently featured on Domaine. I’m a shameless Instagram stalker of the mastermind behind it all, Amber Lewis so suffice it to say, I feel intimately involved with the process of this project.

I will leave you to some of my favorite parts of the tour while I excuse myself to wipe the drool off my face. For more before and after photos visit Amber's blog.
